Mitsubishi exhibit their latest Digital Photo Solutions at Focus on Imaging 2007
Mitsubishi Electric’s Digital Photo Technology division will be exhibiting its latest photo printing systems and solutions for retail and professional applications at this year’s Focus on Imaging exhibition on stand E50 at Birmingham’s NEC on 24th – 28th February 2007.
Flexilab:
Mitsubishi will be launching their Flexilab solution at Focus, which has been designed as a ‘flexible’ solution for retailers who either already offer photo developing or those who are looking at making an investment into the digital photo processing market. The major advantage of Flexilab is that as business increases the system can be expanded with more terminals or printers to keep up with customer demand. It enables retailers to be able to offer instant printing, a 1-3 hour service when connected to an in-store digital mini lab for volume quantity printing, and a 24 hour – 3 day postal service using an external lab for large quantity orders.
The Flexilab utilises the Mitsubishi’s IT5000 micro lab, as its central management unit, organising a print queue system on all orders that have been placed via PT6000 terminals; each job would then be operated and managed by a member of staff.
The new PT6000 self service terminal acts as the customer interface and will be situated on the shop floor. The PT6000 accepts all major digital media cards, CD/DVDs and can also print from mobile camera phones via Bluetooth™. Customers can also edit their images, add decoration, reduce red eye, burn them to CD and print in a range of sizes from 4” x 6”, 5” x 7”, and 6” x 9”. An optional CP3020DAE printer may be connected for 8” x 10” upto 8” x 12” prints. Orders and photo collection services may be managed over the counter.
The Flexilab uses Mitsubishi’s own dye sublimation printers to produce high quality, durable photographs in a matter of seconds. As standard the system comes with the CP9550DW-S, and it can produce full colour bleed to edge pictures upto a 6” x 9” size. It features a high capacity paper and ink roll, and a 346 dpi thermal head for detailed images that are fade resistant and long lasting.
As a cost effective solution, the Flexilab provides retailers with a high volume production system, a concern for most when purchasing a new system is the cost per copy. The Flexilab demonstrates a high return on investment, and will start making a profit from day one. As its name suggests, the Flexilab is extremely flexible allowing the retailer to decide on the number of components that are required to suit their own needs.
CP9600DW / CP9600DW-S
Mitsubishi will also be launching the the new CP9600DW/ CP9600DW-S dye sublimation printers on stand E50. Both offer an amazing 600 by 600 dpi resolution ensuring that the highest possible quality photos are produced with excellent colour and detail. These printers have been specifically designed for applications where optimum photo quality is paramount.
The CP9600DW can be connected to a laptop, PC or MAC for studio or social photography applications, whilst the CP9600DW-S works with Mitsubishi’s range of Kiosk, Click and Flexilab solutions. Utilising the latest dye sublimation technology, both models can produce photos in 4”x6”, 4.5”x6”, 5” x 7” 6”x8” and 6”x9” formats, that are durable, water & UV resistant, cost effective and emerge completely touch dry. High capacity consumables (600 prints on 4”x6” paper/ink media) also ensure cost effectiveness and very little time is needed to change over the easy to install roll-fed media. Both these printers also benefit from fast image transfer using USB 2.0.
Kiosk
Mitsubishi will be exhibiting its range of digital photo kiosks on stand E50. All have been designed to be easy to use digital photo solutions for the retail sector. They enable users to manage the entire printing process themselves by using the intuitive touchscreen which takes users through a process of viewing, selecting, editing, printing and saving their pictures. Editing options are available and includes borders, calendars, red-eye reduction, conversion to black & white or sepia, zooming and colour adjustments. Mitsubishi’s kiosks accept all major digital media cards, CDs and DVDs and can also upload photos from mobile camera phones via bluetooth™. All are based on Mitsubishi’s highly regarded CP9550DW-S dye sublimation printer that produces full colour, bleed to edge, durable photos. Additional printers can be connected for multiformat printing as well as Mitsubishi’s CP3020DAE dye sublimation printer which can produce larger format 8”x10” and 8”x12” photographs.
The PT7000 has been designed to suit the requirements of retailers who want to be able to offer a simple affordable digital printing solution to their customers. It is available as either a counter top version or on a pedestal. A key feature of this kiosk is that it can be used in a remote printing environment meaning that the touch screen part of the kiosk can be placed in the retail store whilst all the printing can take place in a ‘back office’ location. Mitsubishi’s PT9000 is a more self sufficient kiosk, with payment options available.
Completing the kiosk range is the PT10000 which will also be on display and has been specifically designed as a digital photo printing and multimedia kiosk that can be installed in completely self-service areas, such as shopping centres and airports. This robust kiosk enables users to download mobile phone ringtones and games. In addition images can be saved onto Mitsubishi’s own web album, for download and printing from the Kiosk PT10000. Payment can be made with cash, pre-pay card or credit/debit card.
Click
Mitsubishi’s Click IT5000 will also be on display at Focus, designed as a staff-operated solution, the IT5000 offers professional photographers and retailers the ideal solution to process customer’s photographs digitally, offer enlargements, edit, restore and copy to copy. It is an expandable solution that allows the connection of additional CP9550DW-S, CP9600DW-S printers and the CP3020DAE printer for larger format prints. Third party film and flatbed scanners may also be added to the system. The new IT5000 can also be used with a Wi-Fi solution. This allows photographers to shoot pictures that are then instantly sent through to the IT5000 for printing without the need for a tethered USB cable. This is ideal for all social event photographers.
Social Photography
In addition to the IT5000 as a social photography solution, all of Mitsubishi’s stand alone printers can be connected to either a laptop, PC or Mac and transported to various social events. The printers are very durable in design and have a fast download enabling customers to be able to walk away with their photographs in an instant!
